He's not a Politician, he's a Dad

Welcome to my web page! It is great that you want to learn more about our school board candidates! As you research about the 3 of us, you’ll find that I am not a politician.  I’m just a dad, an alumnus, and a long-time neighbor that hopes to find a way to strengthen our community.

About Me-

I moved to Finneytown in the middle of the fourth grade.  Early on, I got into Cub Scouts and Orchestra.  In Junior High, I tried my hand in track and chorus.  In the summers, I started working at a day camp leading kids ages 5-8. I started to be more involved in the later part of High School.  By the time I graduated, I was involved with Mr. Elliot’s Community Service Program, Mr. Burton’s Key Club, and Mr. McCollum’s Thespians.  I was even awarded the Finneytown Civic Association’s Sandy Ninager Grant upon graduation.

At the University of Cincinnati, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, in Communication.  While attending, I was involved with the Campus Ministries Breakfast Program.  On top of leading some fundraisers, I am most proud to have had the opportunity to organize a Valentine’s Day Care Package Drop-off in Washington Park. Other opportunities included teaching Sunday School as well as assisting teenagers in the Sharonville Recreation Department.

These opportunities helped me get a career for the YMCA of Greater Cincinnati.  While working for the short-lived Northeast YMCA, I learned how to reach out to the community and develop relationships.  I was promoted to the Sports and Teen Director position at Powel Crosley Jr. YMCA.  There I enjoyed working with our teen led “Leaders Club”, helped Finneytown & St. Xavier High School start a “Youth In Government” program, and brought a “Black Achievers” (now called “Youth Achievers”) group to our branch.

When I left the YMCA, I found myself substitute teaching at our Finneytown Schools.  I didn’t return the following school year.  However, it gave me a better appreciation for our teachers. Instead, I started a career as a Commercial Electrician.  I was on jobsites ranging from building data centers to converting old buildings to offices.  I was fortunate to find a position with the City of Cincinnati, Traffic Services, when the recession hit.  I continue working in traffic, rising to a position that allows discussions with engineers about projects.

Personally, I am married to Joy Stover.  She is involved with the FMPA and the Elementary PTA.  This is both of our second marriages.  Together we have a blended family of hers, mine & ours.  Our Finneytown Graduates are Jadyn Stover (Class of 2018), Grace Plaut (Class of 2019) and Randy Fleming (Class of 2022).  Our current Wildcats are at the Elementary building.  Kenneth is in the 5th grade.  Charlotte is in the 4th grade.  So, you will definitely see me at Finneytown’s socials, practices, games, and concerts.  IF you have any questions or want to talk.  You can email me at Plaut4FLSD@yahoo.com.  …OR guaranteed you can just find me at Finneytown Kroger, I’ll be there getting groceries.
